Hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism is a common disorder in which the amount of hormone secreted by the thyroid gland is inadequate to meet the body's needs. The main function of the thyroid hormones is to stimulate metabolism. Therefore some of the common symptoms associated with hypothyroidism include weight gain, fatigue, cold extremities and depression. See below for a list of other common symptoms associated with hypothyroidism. Fatigue may also be experienced when patients have low adrenal function.
