BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
DHEA-7-Keto (dehydroepiandrosterone-7-keto) is a naturally occurring metabolite of the steroidal hormone Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Just like DHEA, this substance is also predominately produced in the adrenal glands (and to a lesser extent in skin and in the brain). Of all of the downstream metabolites of DHEA, DHEA-7-Keto appears to be the most active metabolite.
Research in both animal and human studies suggests that DHEA-7-Keto can help stimulate the immune system, improve memory, reduce stress, slow down muscle loss and help reduce weight by increasing the calorie burning rate. DHEA-7-Keto is not converted into the downstream hormones testosterone or estrogens.
BENEFITS:
DHEA-7-Keto may support weight loss, improve the immune function, improve cholesterol composition, enhance memory retention, support the thyroid function, counteract the effects of high cortisol, reduce stress, slow down muscle loss, and may reduce Raynaud’s symptoms.
Other possible indications and benefits of DHEA-7-Keto may include:
- Enhancement of cellular immunity
- HIV wasting syndrome
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
- Arthritis
- Alzheimer’s disease and other immune deficiency disorders
- Skin disorders related to excessive 5-alpha reductase activity such as acne, seborrhoea, hirsutism and androgenic alopecia
- Greasy skin with acne, acne scalp dandruff and bad odours (when combined with an antimicrobial agent)
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
- DHEA-7-Keto is best taken in the morning as this is when the body’s natural levels peak
- Avoid taking DHEA-7-Keto at night as it may affect sleep
POSSIBLE CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Breast and Prostate cancer: DHEA-7-Keto is not converted into the downstream hormones testosterone or estrogens. However, we recommend that if needed in these conditions, it is to be used under medical supervision.
POSSIBLE PRECAUTIONS:
Pregnancy and breast feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
- Anticoagulant Medication: DHEA-7-Keto may have an additive effect, so it is best to avoid if on anticoagulants
- Thyroid Medication: DHEA-7-Keto may increase T3 (Tri-iodothyronine) levels, so monitoring is required.
