It is ideal for athletes and those with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome as it increases the energy production and reduces physiological stress. This formula is also beneficial for cardiovascular health, nervous system and bone metabolism support. Magna Care Plus has powerful antioxidant effects and is important for proper carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism.

Magna Care Plus supports management of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, osteoporosis, migraine, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and premenstrual syndrome. Magna Care Plus is also used to improve athletics performance, support the nervous system and cardiovascular health.

  • Magnesium is an important macro mineral that is involved in over 300 essential metabolic reactions within the body. The conversion of carbohydrates and fats to energy requires numerous magnesium dependant enzymes. The molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP) provides energy for virtually all metabolic processes within the body and exists as a magnesium complex (MgATP). A number of Krebs’s cycle enzymes are also magnesium dependant. Another indirect role magnesium has in energy metabolism is through the synthesis and recycling of the antioxidant glutathione. Magnesium also is important for nerve impulses, muscle contractions and improvement of energy and emotional status.
  • Potassium serves to maintain the cell’s membrane potential via sodium potassium ATPase pumps. Regulation of the membrane potential is vital for nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction and heart function. Potassium is also vital for glycogenesis. Chronic fatigue syndrome patients have been found to have significantly lower levels of Potassium when compared to healthy controls.
  • Selenium is required for a number of selenium dependent enzymes (selenoproteins). Glutathione peroxidases are important selenoproteins that help prevent free radical damage. Supplementation with selenium can help improve hepatic gluconeogenesis and lipid metabolism.
  • Vitamin B1, 2, 3, 5 & 6 are coenzymes for many reactions which regulate energy production, proper cell function and synthesis of fatty and amino acids. In addition to this, B vitamins act as antioxidants protecting against free radical damage.
  • Vitamin B12 is involved in methylation processes within DNA and RNA. It is also essential for the metabolism of components of nerve cells and the myelin sheath as well as neurotransmitters.
  • Folic acid coenzymes are involved in a number of reactions vital for the metabolism of nucleic and amino acids. It is involved in the production of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), in the metabolism of certain amino acids and is necessary for the normal detoxification processes within the liver.
  • Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, the neurotransmitter norepinephrine and the amino acid Carnitine. Carnitine is involved in the transport of long chain fatty acids into the mitochondria and thus is important for energy metabolism. Vitamin C also protects proteins, carbohydrates, fats and nucleic acids from free radical damage.
  • Vitamin D enhances the intestinal absorption of magnesium and is also essential for the proper utilization of calcium within the body. In patients with fibromyalgia and myofacial pain, vitamin D deficiency can for some be a precipitating or perpetuating metabolic factor.
  • Vitamin E is a lipophilic chain-breaking antioxidant that inhibits lipid peroxidation in mitochondrial membranes and protects membrane lipids from free radical damage. It is thought that muscle derived free radical stress could lead to increased vitamin E consumption and subsequent decreased levels of this nutrient.
  • Zinc is essential for over a hundred different enzymes in the human body. Zinc also plays a role in the structure of cell membranes, proteins and helps regulate nerve impulse transmission. In addition to this, the absorption of magnesium is indirectly dependant on zinc given that this mineral along with vitamin B1 and B6 are necessary for stomach acid production which aids in magnesium absorption. A zinc deficiency can lead to depression of the immune system, muscle fatigue and pain.

Take one level scoop mixed with water or fruit juice once daily or as directed away from other medications.


  • High dose magnesium should be avoided or used with caution in elderly persons with renal insufficiency and heart failure.
  • High dose magnesium may transiently increase bowel frequency. The threshold dose at which this occurs varies amongst individuals. Should diarrhea occur, reduce the dose.
  • Pregnancy and breast feeding: no studies have been performed.


  • Blood pressure and calcium channel blockers: Magnesium may increase the likelihood of negative side effects from these medications, so monitoring is suggested.
  • Oral hypoglycaemics: Magna Care Plus may act synergistically with these drugs so monitoring is required.
  • Antibiotics, penicellamine, thyroid, osteoporosis and some antimalarial medications: Magnesium may interfere with the absorption of these medications so we suggest taking these medications at separate times of the day.
