What is Compounding?

Pharmaceutical Compounding is the art & science of preparing  medicines from basic raw materials . Many pharmacies used to prepare various medicines in the back of their premises before these medicines became mass produced by drug companies. Compounding is still important today because it fills a niche in the market for patients who need a medicine produced in a form that is not readily available I.E When a specific dosage is not available, the preferred dosage can be supplied, or it can be supplied in a format (liquid, cream, powder for example) that suits the patient. We compound section 29 prescription products but also make dietary supplements which do not require a prescription to obtain.
